The International Network for the Study of Spirituality (INSS) is a unique international network for people interested in bringing the study of spirituality to life through research, scholarship, education and practice. Founded in 2010 (as BASS - the British Association for the Study of Spirituality), INSS supports and encourages the study of spirituality through its well-established journal, biennial conferences, these information pages, and the activities of its Spirituality Scholars Network.

The International Network for the Study of Spirituality (INSS) aims to facilitate the critical exploration of spirituality in theory and practice across a wide range of academic and applied disciplines. It aims to provide a space, both physically and conceptually, where multidisciplinary research and conversations in the field of spirituality studies can be brought together to contribute both to a better understanding of spirituality in professional and everyday practice and to the development of new theoretical frameworks.

Our mission is to contribute to research and the development of a field of study that makes a difference both now and in the future.
The International Network for the Study of Spirituality is a member of the UK Register of Charities, which formally states INSS's strategic aims as follows:


"To promote, for the benefit of the public in the UK and internationally, awareness, understanding, respect and support for people's spirituality, both in a professional context and in the wider community, through

the critical study of all aspects of spirituality; 
education and dissemination of these issues; 
the development of inclusive and respectful policies and professional practices."
